On April 15, 2012 … At 2:20 AM … It will be exactly 100 years since the RMS Titanic slipped beneath the surface of a cold Atlantic Ocean. Of the 2229 passengers and crew who boarded the Titanic, there were only 713 recorded survivors who witnessed this great tragedy.
From thier experience, much information was learned about the events that happened during the 2 hours and 40 minutes from 11:40 pm to 2:20 am. In this short space of time (160 minutes) a massive 40,000 ton ocean liner went to the ocean floor after striking an iceberg.
Many books have been written and rewritten about these events. Movies have been made. The wreckage has been located and technology has allowed man to visit and salvage items from the remains of this great ship on the ocean floor. Exhibitions have sprung up all over the world.
